Heco

Germany· Founded in 1949

German loudspeaker maker founded in 1949 by Gerhard and Susanne Hennel in Schmitten, in the Taunus hills — the name is short for Hennel & Co. It built drivers for cinemas and for Braun, Dual and Telefunken before putting its own name on a speaker in 1964, and the through-line ever since has been the cone material: a light long-fibre kraft paper, still used across the whole range and paired with the Fluktus silk dome and its multi-wave aluminium faceplate. The trademark passed through Rank, Recoton and Voxx; the brand is run today from Pulheim, outside Cologne.

The catalog ranges from the Victa Elite 202 at 29.2 cm up to the Aurora XT 1000 at 125.8 cm — compare any two side by side at true scale.
