English maker founded in 1982 by Michael Creek in north London, whose first product set the tone for everything after it: the CAS4040, a £99 integrated amplifier that undercut the established brands and outsold them anyway — up to 1,200 a month by 1985. Creek had been in the trade since 1970, when he started at his father's Wyndsor Recording Co. The company was sold to Mordaunt-Short's parent in 1988 and bought back in 1993 by Creek together with his overseas distributors, trading again from the same north London premises. It owned Epos, the loudspeaker brand, from 1999 until selling it to Karl-Heinz Fink in 2020 — which is why the Cymatics range, launched in 2026, is the first speaker Creek has built under its own name in decades. Amplifiers remain the core of the line.
