Danish maker founded in Silkeborg in 2013 by Mads Buchardt, who came to it from selling musical instruments rather than from engineering. Its reputation was made in 2016 by the S400, the first hi-fi speaker sold commercially that was developed on a Klippel Near Field Scanner; the waveguide that came out of that work is still in nearly every model. Buchardt sells direct at one price worldwide, duties included, and puts the margin a dealer would have taken into parts it names openly — Purifi, Scan-Speak, Jantzen, Duelund — in cabinets cut from solid wood in its own workshop. The active models run on DSP and WiSA, with downloadable Mastertunings that rewrite the crossover rather than adding EQ on top.
