Scotland's loudspeaker heritage is built on the point source. The dual-concentric driver — tweeter and woofer sharing a single axis so the whole range radiates from one point — was an English invention of the 1940s, but Scotland is where it was built and refined for decades afterwards, and it remains the idea the country is known for. Scotland also produced the other great British hi-fi school, the source-first tradition out of Glasgow that argued the turntable mattered more than the speakers, and the two have shaped Scottish system-building ever since.
