The middle LYD and the one most studios end up with: a 7-inch MSP cone under the same 28 mm soft dome, crossed at 4.3 kHz, in a cabinet that happens to be exactly the size of the BM5 mkIII. Same DSP as the rest of the range — Bass Extension, Position and Sound Balance — and the same 50 watts a side of class D, but 55 Hz instead of the LYD 5's 60 and 3 dB more output. What reviewers keep returning to is behaviour at low volume: the response holds together quietly, which matters more in a small room than the last few decibels of headroom. $649 each.
