Coltrane Quintet

Marten's 2024 replacement for the Coltrane 3, and the entry point to the series the company is named for. Four membrane materials in five drivers: a 25 mm diamond dome and a 76 mm beryllium dome sharing a white plate, a 178 mm carbon-fibre cone below them, and two 254 mm aluminium-honeycomb-sandwich woofers. Crossovers are first order throughout, at 170 Hz, 1 kHz and 6 kHz. The cabinet is a carbon-fibre laminate teardrop, 20 to 30 mm thick, narrowing to a spine at the back and 74 cm deep — most of the volume is behind the baffle rather than beside it — with a front baffle laminated from aluminium, fibreboard and solid wood. It is 25 percent larger than the Coltrane 3 it replaced. The width and depth quoted here are the cabinet's own; the height is the 127.9 cm it stands at on its stainless isolators, whose outriggers reach 52.5 cm across. 115 kg, 4 ohms nominal, 89 dB.
