Coltrane Supreme 2

Introduced at CES 2014 as the model that collapsed the original Coltrane Supreme's two enclosures per side into one two-metre column, and still Marten's reference below the Extreme. Five ways and eleven drivers a side: a 19 mm diamond dome, a 51 mm diamond dome and a 127 mm ceramic cone in a plate at ear height, seven 203 mm aluminium-sandwich woofers stacked three above and four below it, and six 254 mm passive radiators on the back in place of a port. Every crossover is first order — at 120, 450, 3500 and 8000 Hz — which is the whole argument for stacking the drivers this way: shallow slopes only stay time-coherent if the sources are close together. The cabinet pairs 25 mm carbon-fibre laminate sides with front, back, top and bottom in 70 mm laminated solid wood, and comes to 270 kg a side. Jorma Statement wiring is standard rather than optional, and the quoted response runs 18 Hz to 100 kHz within ±2 dB.
