Mingus Quintet 2

The entry to Marten's Mingus series and the first model in the range to use a diamond dome — a 19 mm one, sharing a white baffle plate with a 127 mm ceramic midrange, over three 178 mm aluminium-honeycomb-sandwich woofers. Three-way with first-order crossovers at 370 Hz and 4 kHz, which is unusually shallow for a speaker this complex and is the reason Marten keeps the drivers physically close together. The port fires downward into the gap the stainless isolator feet leave under the cabinet, so the foot height is part of the tuning rather than just furniture. A knob above the terminals switches between four built-in parallel RLC networks to trim the bass for the room. Cabinet is 25 to 40 mm of fibre laminate with solid wood top and bottom and a damping mat, 63 kg per side. Response is quoted to 100 kHz within ±2 dB — the diamond dome's headroom, not a figure anyone will hear.
